I promised you in my last post that I would tell you how I lost 100 pounds despite taking diet breaks. So, this will come as no surprise, but I'm not perfect. I'm kinda lazy. It took me so long to wake up to my obesity, because I made excuses. When I finally did get out of denial, I learned a lot about weight loss.
One really important thing is that you should take breaks from diet so you don't get burned out. This is especially important if, like me, your obesity is far advanced. Also if you've been working at weight loss for awhile, it's easy to plateau.
As weird as it sounds, actually falling off the wagon can be of great help in weight loss, if you learn from it. What tripped you up? Was it "stinkin thinkin" as Al-Anon calls it? (more on that later). Are you making excuses, feeling sorry for yourself or comparing ? What triggered overeating? Depression, grief, pain, loneliness? Are you not eating enough and hungry all the time? (more on that later too).
I guess what I'm saying basically echoes Socrates: know thyself. Get to know what makes you tick and stop ticking. Getting to know myself was how I lost 100 pounds!
